Baseball: Jaksa Signs Extension With Chippewas
MOUNT PLEASANT – If continuity is the key to success, then Central Michigan is in it for the long haul.
The Chippewas announced that head coach Steve Jaksa was given a contract extension on Monday, securing him a spot at CMU through 2014.

“Steve is a Chippewa, through and through,” CMU athletic director Dave Heeke said. “He wore the Maroon and Gold as a player and is incredibly passionate about helping CMU reach the highest goals.”
After eight seasons in charge of Central Michigan, Jaksa has helped the Chippewas to a 263-193-1 record. Central Michigan has also won three MAC West titles in that time.
Jaksa's 263 wins are the third most in CMU history.
“It means a lot to me personally, as well as to my staff, that Dave Heeke and Central Michigan have this level of confidence in the direction and vision of this program,” Jaksa said. “It's a tremendous and humbling honor.”
Jaksa was the 2004 MAC Coach of the Year and played for Central Michigan between 1977-79, posting a 12-4 record as a pitcher.
