Baseball: Upsets Abound In First Round

Chillicothe, Ohio — It didn't take long for an upset in the Mid-American Tournament. As a matter of fact, all that it took was the first game for No. 5 Bowling Green to knock off No. 4 Ball State.
The Falcons were the first team to move on to the winner's bracket of the double-elimination tournament by knocking off the Cardinals 6-4. Bowling Green jumped out to a 5-0 lead after four innings and then forced Ball State to play catch-up for the rest of their morning affair.

CMU celebrated its Day 1 victory over Ohio.
Joining Bowling Green in the winner's bracket were Toledo and Eastern Michigan. The Rockets, a No 3 seed, handled Miami 7-1, and No. 7 Eastern Michigan stunned Kent State with a 12-4 upset.
In the late game on Wednesday night, Central Michigan scored 13 runs in the first four innings, putting aside Ohio 13-9.
Day 2 of the winner's bracket will feature Toledo playing Eastern Michigan and Bowling Green battling Central Michigan.
In the second round, Miami and Kent State will meet in the loser's bracket while Ball State will play Ohio.
