ATHENS — It's time for the Mid-American Conference to take notice. Bowling Green is on a tear.
The Falcons topped Ohio 12-5 on Sunday, wrapping up their second straight weekend sweep in MAC play. It's not just that BGSU is sweeping teams right now, it's that the Falcons have won eight straight games over league foes.
After dropping the first two games of the series 21-5 and 8-2, Ohio came out and took some early momentum. The Bobcats jumped ahead 1-0 in the first inning on an RBI ground out by Gauntlett Eldemire.
Bowling Green (18-18-1, 9-6 MAC) charged back to take a 2-1 lead in the second inning. It was a lead that BGSU starter Kevin Leady wouldn't relinquish in his seven strong innings. His offense didn't stop either as the Falcons one-run lead ballooned to eight runs by the eighth inning.
Leady left the game with a 12-4 lead that helped improve his record to 6-1.
With the sweep, Ohio falls to 11-26 on the season and 6-9 in the MAC.
