TOLEDO — The past week has been a little rough for the Toledo Rockets.
Toledo started April with an eight-game winning streak, but that was followed with a six-game losing streak.
Heading into Friday's MAC West tie with Northern Illinois, the Rockets needed some sort of spark to get back on track. Early on though, it looked like a 'here we go again' kind of game, as UT fell behind 2-0 after just one inning.
The Rockets bounced back though, taking a 7-5 victory thanks to the bat of Joe Corfman. The sophomore helped Toledo (22-15, 9-4 MAC) fight back from a 5-4 deficit in the fifth inning, rounding the bases on a solo home run. Three innings later, he knocked in the winning runs with a bases loaded single.
Northern Illinois (14-23, 5-8) had a chance late to tie the game, getting its first two runners on base in the ninth. However, a 4-6-3 double play and a fly out quickly ended any chance for a late Huskies run.
