Purdue Boilermakers  56,  Eastern Michigan Eagles  50

West Lafayette, Ind. — Tavelyn James did everything that she could to keep Eastern Michigan's season alive, but when all was said and done, it was Purdue that advanced out of the first round of the WNIT, 56-50.

James had 28 points in the loss, pushing her team to an even keel with Purdue (15-16) most of the night. But, a strong second half allowed the Boilermakers to overcome a 23-19 deficit at the half and escape with a home win over EMU.

Joining James atop the EMU scoring list was Cassie Schrock, who had 15 points.

Perhaps dooming the Eagles was their lack of secondary scoring, with just two other players getting on the scoresheet for a combined seven points.

Purdue was led offensively by Brittany Rayburn with 20 points. However, every single Boilermaker had at least one point and Purdue got 33 points from its bench.

Eastern Michigan finishes the year with a 22-9 record and went 11-5 in the MAC. That was good for second place this season in the MAC West.
