Swimming: Miami Makes Strides, Toledo Still 1st

The Rockets held off a determined charge from Miami.

OXFORD — The hosts from Miami made a big move in the Mid-American Conference Championships, but after three days of competition, Toledo is still in first place.
After two days of competition, Miami found itself in sixth place. But, after a strong showing on Friday, the RedHawks leapt all the way to second place, with 385 points. Toledo leads the way with 452 points.
The RedHawks big jump was helped by Kelsey Vehr. The junior won both the 400-yard IM and the 100-yard breaststroke, giving Miami a lift.
Toledo's Jacy Dyer, who was the team's star on Thursday, had another impressive night. She took home the 200-yard freestyle title with a time of 1:47.62.
